Movie: "eXiztenZ" (1999)

Really twisted sci/fi flick directed by David Cronenberg. This came out 1999. Now, if I don't remember this wrong it was around that time the discussion about how video gaming affects human [real life] behaviour got huge. Interest organisations gave their opionion, the media was ripping all the juice out of this carrot, and the wheel was spinning. Guess Cronenberg took the oportunity of making a wicked film out of it.

Not bad at all, not bad at all. A bit dazing but also groovy indeed. In the beginning of the film, you meet with a group of beta-testers for a video game that is soon to be released on the market. It's just that the consoles doesn't seem to be of the ordinary plastic/circuit box type, but, made out of organic tissue(!), and the gaming experience is far beyond the Virtual Reality technology that we know of today. Of course, to even be able to play on these consoles, you need a tiny surgery procedure..

Wow, this must be the space age, you must think. Well, my thought is that these "pods" are just awakening elements for the viewer, 'cuz it really had me thinking. Actually, some of the fx with organic tissue was quite repulsive. Yack. However, it was an entertaining film. All sci/fi enthusiasts (and gaming freaks) should watch it.
