Movie: "The Final Cut" (2004)

Best sci/fi flick I've seen in quite a while. I must say I (a bit prejudiced, I know) first had a little troublespot due to the main character, whom I only associate with the family father in R.V. Well, I was so wrong. This is a really great film.

In a not so distant future, most people prefer to "tag" their little babies with an implant ("Zoe inplant") whose purpose is simple, to record their lives. People who has this Zoe implants (literally!) becomes walking, talking camcorders. They live their lives as usuual, only when they pass on, their memorial services will contain sort of a "trailer" over the diseased person's life. As you may understand, this has created a brand new occupation. The "cutters" are the "directors" of these memorial sequences. As you may find logical, this work means going through lots of unpleasent "raw material", so good nerves is demanded.

Alan. W. Hakman (Robin Williams) is one of these cutters, a very successfull such, must be said. The reason why Alan chose to become a cutter, dealing with the shameful parts of people's lives, is a history for itself. Anyhow, I can tell you this much: it's goes way back.

However, I considered this as one of the best films I've seen in this genre, so I won't give up anything more on the plot, with the risk of spoiling. Go rent this one immediately!

8/10
