Movie: "In the valley of Elah" (2007)

This film has had great reviews, from what I think mostly because of director Paul Haggis who is having this really beneficial status since his masterpiece 'Crash' (2004). However, this one didn't hold my interest on the same level. The story is about Hank Deerfield (Tommy Lee Jones), an old military vet whose son Mike (heiress of the taste for the military) is currently stationed in Iraq. One morning Hank gets a phonecall about his son's absense from his military group. He is simply told "These things happen" like he should just sit there and wait for a resolution. Well, of course he starts digging. The story is (from what I can tell) mostly about the things he finds out while digging in Mike's disapearance. Every father must want a son to be proud of, right? Hank has detective Emily (Charlize Theron) helping him out. The investigation is (at intervals) on her desk, but she's having some problems of her own, mostly due to a high level of testosteron in their offices. However, I couldn't find this film bringing me all that much. In fact, it felt like one really (approx. two hours) long episode of Navy CIS. Gash.
