Movie: "Shadowboxer" (2005)

WARNING!

I can't lie. This is the worst film I've seen in a long time. It just wouldn't get it right anywhere at all. The story is about a couple, who are also hitmen. Then during one assignment, everything gets twisted. As Rose (Helen Mirren) is about to shoot, the victim (Vanessa Ferlito)'s amniotic fluids goes. She's about to give birth to a children. Then Rose just cannot find it in her heart to proceed. So, the stage with is supposed to be blood splashed on the wall, instead gets to be a improvised maternity ward. Voila - a star is born! But what about the mission assigner? And what about the child's father? And how will the other part of the hitmen couple (Cuba Gooding Jr.) react on this sudden situation? It's dramatic here and there, but it won't hold up. The acting smells phony, the story seems unreal, everything is just messed up. Even the finish line seemed messed up. Quite surprising appearance by Joseph Gordon-Levitt as quack doctor though, whom you may remember as the [sexual abused] main character in 'Mysterious Skin'. However.. Spare yourself one and a half hour by not seeing this movie.

3/10
