Movie: "Good Will Hunting" (1997)

Always thought to myself that I should see this movie. So, tonight we did. It was fairly amusing. A kid who has been through all the usual cast-away phases: orphanage, foster homes, of course with all the outrage that comes along. So, here he is now, in his twenty's, cleaning hallways on the local university as main occupation; assigned to him by his parole officer.

The thing with Will Hunting (Matt Damon) is that he has this bizarre way of learning. He's considered a street punk by the masses, but really a genious. So, when a MIT professor at the school busts him for what he believes is graffiti on school property, what he really sees is the solution for a really complicated math problem. Prof. Gerald Lambeau (Stellan Skarsgård) just can't let go on this one. When Will finally loses touch and doesn't slip a jail sentence, Lambeau manages to offer him a Get out of jail card, if he just plays along. The conditions for release involves seeing a therapist, this will be Sean (Robin Williams), Skylar (Minnie Driver), who Will doesn't seem to get off his mind.

How will this end? All these forces dragging Will in different directions and all. Will it come to a happy ending? Well. See for yourself. I had slight flashbacks during the film, so I guess it could be that I've seen it looong ago. However, my memory's flat-line, just as usual.

This movie reminds me about 'Finding Forrester', but this one didn't go all the way. I guess you find sympathy in the way of thinking "Wtf, stupid jerk, with that gift, you waste it?? Aaaaawergh", almost like you wanna kick him in his ass. On the other hand, you get sort of pissed 'cuz your own reading sensation isn't all that good, hehe.

An average film.
