Movie: "Legends of the Fall" (1994)

Wow.

I'll spit it out right away. Probably the best romantic drama I've ever seen. Really beautiful. Even though I'm heterosexual, I must say it was hard to resist Brad Pitt as he stood there in his what.. 20's? Now I finally understand why chicks were so into him back in the 90's. Really astonishing.

So..

Collonel William Ludlow (Anthony Hopkins) has thrown in the towel when it comes to war. He never liked the way the government treated the indians. Their brutal extermination, pitiful. So, he has lived in a cottage on the wild countryside for a couple of years now. Here he lives with his lady Isabel, nd his three sons: Alfred, Tristan, and Samuel. His lady Isabel has left for urban life though. The contact between father, wife, and sons goes through letters, in the movie often read afterwards by One Stab, the friendly indian who lives with the family in the cottage.

Also, the youngest of the three sons, Samuel, has found himself a fiancé. Susannah (Julia Ormond) then comes to live with them in the cottage. My own lady claimed that it was obvious already from the beginning that there would be passion between Tristan (Brad Pitt) and Susannah. The dazzling glances between them at first sight. May be so, hehe. Anyways. The First World War is present around them, so the sons decide to step out like brave warriors, and (hopefully) come back with glory. Then, Samuel will marry his beloved Susannah.

Of course, things doesn't work out the way they are planned. With risk of spoiling important parts, I won't say anything more, but this is definitely a film that everyone should have seen. It's the sweetest thing.

However, One Stab thought Tristan was the shattering rock, me myself, I consider Susannah to be the real bandit queen. Of course, there is no such things as a bandit queen in this. It's just beautiful! ;)

8/10
