Movie: "The Air I Breathe" (2007)

Outstanding thriller!

It's only a week since it's DVD release. What can I say, a really great movie. This is the art of parallel storytelling at it's best. The movie starts with Happiness (Forest Whitaker) accidentally overhearing about a fixed horse race. He takes it as a sure bet. Of course, the plan fails, and he's left flat broke, even in debt to the local betting pool (Fingers). So, he decides to rob a bank. Here's pretty much where parallelity starts. You get to meet Pleasure (Brendan Fraser), a seer(!), whose main assignment is to foresee (thus spoil in mission to control) future events that will come to affect his boss; the mobster "Fingers" (Andy Garcia) career.

(( A funny side-ingredient in the plot is when Fingers younger nephew Tony (Emile Hirsh) comes to stay in town for a couple of days. He's - the least - a troublemaker, this in one's capacity as a teenager who's looking for his first sexual experience. ))

We also have Love (Kevin Bacon), a sucessfull doctor who never stopped loving Gina, to whom his best friend actually reached before him. So, Love and Gina are now simply best friends. Furthermore, we have Sorrow (Sarah Michelle Gellar), a pop musician whose manager has reached critical red, financially speaking. This will lead his way to Fingers, etc. Actually, the film isn't as messy as it might seem, not at all. In fact, everything makes sense, all the way through. Really great film. The moral is told to be something like...

"The things that will come to matter most in life, is those that we cannot predict nor master"

Really great film!
Definitely worth seeing.
