Movie: "Idiocracy" (2006)

Sci/fi enthuists often refer to the future as a place where the human mind has developed over generations, with more advanced technology and a more reasonable outlook on all the bigger question in life, leading to lasting politics, world peace, etc.

This movie is a portrait of the opposite scenario. Whereas years have passed by, human being has become dumber, and dumber, and dumber. In the beginning of the film, director Mike Judge seem to drag a little moral over the fact that cultivated folks are more interested in career than breeding, while trailer park trash is reproducing
excessively, and the sum total isn't too hard to calculate, right?

Anyways. In our present time, the military are concerned about how the skills on i.e. fighter pilots are so spread, and the fact that their really talented soldiers often walk in civil clothes for a lifetime, never seeing the war they were trained for. So, the scientists has come up with the answer. A freezing tank, keeping the cream of army in an "intact state" until really needed. The only thing left is a test subject. This is where - average joe / never to be missed - military librarian Joe Bauers (Luke Wilson) comes into play. Test subject no. 2? A prostitue from the street, obviously only to be missed by her pimp.

So, due to pitiable circumstances, the project is forgotten about. So, these freezing tubes are opened around year 2500-something. So, Joe and Rita wakes up in a ..really dumb.. world! Well, here's where you have to see for yourself. At least some parts where entertaining.
