Movie: "Sex and the City" (2008)

Time for a cinema visit. Gosh, I've just spent 2½ hours in a cinema auditorium. Whoa, it's been like ..ages.. since the last time I went to see a movie on the big screen. Oh, Casino Royale with my older sister. Anyways, this was really long ago.

So, now I've seen this epic saga about these four young(?) women who knows how to balance up their career with their love lives, plus having that extravagant eye for mainstream faschion. I read a review from a contemporary Swedih causerie writer slash known-entertainer. He gave the film a particularly good review, describing it as "having flare", and that it would tell today's stressed-out people that they should try to enjoy their presence, or something like that. I can still not get to my head whether the man was being sarcastic, or telling his truthful opinion.

(SPOILER WARNING*)
One thing that made me curious was how Carrie got upset by not having the same area code number when she changed her phone number. I mean, she threw away her phone and her assistant helped her with the details on getting a new one. So, I assumed the thing was still about mobile communications. So, when she was upset of having "another area code" Miranda explained that her new number was part of "the new" New York. However, Carrie still felt like a part of "the old" New York (touché*). Well, to the point. Does US/NY provide different area codes(!) for cellular phone subscriptions? Here in Sweden we have three "prefix codes" for the mobile networks (070/073/076; having grown up in the same order, probably because of available numbers becoming an article in short supply). Anyways, I thought the system always was built like this. Evidently, it's not. Anyways, it could be fictional, aswell as it could be me getting hold of the wrong end of the stick.

Anyways, I won't throw ill criticism over this one. It was actually really entertaining. I can't say I found myself neither bored or lost during these two and a half hours of playtime. First off, the title sequence was well-mannered, it really impressed me. However, it may aswell be the fact that big-set-of-speakers DTS sound system and that ~100 inch motion-picture screen that bewildered me in this rush. Gaah, what the heck. I enjoyed the movie. I give it 6/10. Quite a strong 6 also, because I wasn't even a bit tired (only a bit urgent to strech my legs) after the long play time.

Oh, the first time I visit the SF picture theatre here in Umeå. It was nice, disregarding the - quite dreadful - ticket man who answered my short question "Ewrhm is this the right queue for theatre room #8?" with - in a robot-like voice - repeating (only) our row/seat numbers. Heh, guess every residence comes with it's peculiarities :-)

My beloved fiancé gav the movie a 5/10.

"You cannot go dressed like that, being that old. It's silly. I like the old episodes better. It's getting creepy, almost gross. They seem artificial, with those severe retouches, etc. They don't look like that at the paparazzi pictures."
