Movie: "American Gangster" (2007)

Three hours long, yet it felt like two, tops.

I've thought about watching this one for half a year or something, just been waiting for the perfect setup (incl. snacks, dull twilight shining, quiet surroundings, etc). Yesterday was the night that we had been waiting for. So, around 9 PM we pressed play, loaded up with etcetera snacks and coffee.

The film is told to be painting pictures of "two different sides of the law", which is something I think could have been brought up more obvious. This got more onto me just minutes ago; after reading a Swedish review. This saying that the movie wasn't such personal vendetta (Crowe VS Washington) that signed had thought it was going to be. Anyways, I personally think this was a really awsome movie. A legendary mobster ("Bumpy Johnsson") dies, and his since-fifteen-years-back driver/advisor/collector of debts apprentice decides to not go sink in the unwritten hierarchy, but to grow big. Meanwhile, police detective Richie Roberts has big legal issues with the custody over his child, plus the fact that them other detectives of the force refuses(!) to work with him after he turns one million dollars (after a consignment) in by the book. So, Richie gets an offer to open up his own special force, with his own staff (of people he trust only). Their only aim is to go for the big dogs. So, this is sort of where the story starts. And like I said, it felt like two hours, tops. Actually, when [all of a sudden] those short texts about what happened to Frank Lucas, Richie, and those other persons (in real life) was rolling over the screen, I was like "Wtf, already??". So, my earlier apprehension of having time to get bored before this movie had come to an end, had turned out to be unjustified.
