Movie: "Stir Of Echoes" (1999)

Really great film. Me and my fiancé was looking forward on seeing something more of a horror flick than the drama/thrillers we've seen lately. So, this is where we landed. I had no expectations at all, not knowing what this would be, not even sure if it was just a thriller, or a spaced out boogey man production.

So, it turned out to be awsome. Kevin Bacon plays Tommy, an ordinary all-American suburbian man. Together with Maggie (Kathryn Erbe, whom you may have seen as the death-sentenced Sherley in 'Oz') he has a son, Jake. This whole story starts with a houseparty with the family a couple of blocks away. Tom is cynical-minded about para-normal stuff, so he laughts at the bare thought about hypnosis. However, Maggies sister Lisa talks him into giving it a try, even though he's being slightly drunk. So, the hypnotizing is a success. But hey, are you supposed to get cold turkey by a hypnosis session? Tom starts seeing things. Nasty things.

I get influence vibes from aswell 'The Shining' as 'The Sixth Sense'. However, this film was really great. Brought something, and leaves you in that pleasent state of mind that you wish to be living in when you leave the theatre.

7/10
