Movie: "Reign Over Me" (2007)

This film has had great reviews over at IMDb, 7.8 to be accurate. Still - it doesn't recieve the big clap from me. It's about a tendist, Alan Johnson (Don Cheadle) who rans into his old college room mate, Charlie Fineman (Adam Sandler), who he has heard rumours about getting all isolated from the real wo rld since he lost his entire family in the 9/11 catastrophe. So, this appears to be true. Charlie Fineman is so totally into his music, always wearing thick headphones, when he's not in the record store of ocurse. Now, at first, Fineman doesn't even seem to recognize Alan. But Alan is a stubborn dentist, he just isn't willing to give up. So, yes, the relationship between Alan and his old room mate Charlie Fineman begins to grow (again). In the meanwhile, Charlie's mother-in-law is trying to get him institutionalized, since he just isn't willing to speak to them anymore.

I think this was a pretty messy film. Sure, it has it's moment, but I can't see it standing up to the 7.8 that IMDb voters has given it. A sad drama in it's whole, not sure if it's the Sandler appearance that gives me a tweaky feeling about it, but it not one of the better/more original films I've seen.

However, a funny fact was how I could recall the face of Cheadle from 'E.R.', despite the fact that my face recogition skill is usually someplace below point zero, PLUS the fact that I now also see that he only appeared in four(!) episodes of the television series. Funny, I really nailed him there.

5/10
